We love sharing our knowlege by presenting classes and workshops. Here are a few classes that we have available.

The class project is a simple but elegant "One in a Melon" hat by Inkyknitter, made with knitting one strand of mohair and one strand of Heritage Wave together. The Brioche stitch make a very squishy and warm fabric for this great hat. 
You must be an experienced level knitter for this class. 

Date: Wednesdays, Oct. 30, Nov. 6 and 13  at 2 - 3:30 p.m.

Cost:  $60 + GST

This little purse with a long strap is a perfect gift idea and so much fun to make. Bring your Loom (or rent one of ours) and we'll help you choose yarn and get it warped. You will receive instructions to complete the project.  Bring your rigid heddle or talk to us about renting a SampleIt. Rental loom is available for $30. 

Date: Friday, Nov. 22  at 10 - 12 noon

Cost:  $40 + GST

We are thrilled to have guest teacher, Robin Ferguson teach this class as she is originally from Newfoundland! These mittens are one of the designs that is knitted again and again on the East coast. Not only will you learn to knit these, but you will learn about their history and the "proper" way to knit them. 

Date: Thursdays, Oct. 10, 17 and 24  at 10:30 - 12 noon 

Cost: $60 + GST

Learn the basics of Tunisian Crochet, with a focus on Tunisian Simple Stitch.  You'll learn some handy shaping techniques while making a striped triangular shawl.  Yarn will be chosen after the first class.

Date: Tuesdays, Nov. 5, 12 and 19     6-8 p.m.

Cost: $70 + GST

This class is for experienced crocheters who are ready to learn new stitches and techniques. The project is the Ring Effects Slouch hat designed by our very own Rebecca. 

Date: Thursdays, Oct. 31, Nov. 7 and 14   at 10:30 - 12 noon

Cost: $60 + GST

This class is for the person who is curious about weaving. You will learn the basics of weaving; you will prepare and warp a loom and then learn to weave a scarf. We have the Ashford SampleIt loom available to rent if you so desire. Rental cost is $30.00

Date: Saturdays, Oct. 12 and 19 at 10 - 12:30 p.m.

OR Wednesdays, Oct. 30 and Nov. 6 at 10 - 12:30 p.m.

Cost: $80 + GST

Consider taking this class if you've already taken our Beginner's Weaving class.  We'll create a beautiful scarf using a technique called "clasped warp". Bring your rigid heddle or talk to us about renting a SampleIt. Rental loom is available for $30. 

Date:  Wednesday,  Oct. 23  at 10 - 12 noon

Cost: $40 + GST

In this class you will learn about different types of fiber for spinning.  You will learn how to draft the roving and you will spin some beautiful yarn on a drop spindle.

Date: Saturday,  Oct. 5  at 10 - 12:30 p.m.

Cost: $40.00 + GST

Laura is an experienced spinner with a wealth of fiber knowledge! This class is for you if you have no prior experience with a spinning wheel, or if you have done some spinning and want to take it to the next level.

Date: Saturdays, Oct. 12 and 19  at 1 - 3:30 pm

Cost: $80 + GST

Holding your working yarn in your left hand is very awkward if you normally hold it in your right hand. However, there are some benefits to Continental Knitting; it can be faster and it’s very handy when you are knitting Fair Isle patterns. As well, it’s a good chance to give the tired hand a break!

Date: Wednesdays, Oct. 9 and 16  at 10:30 - 12 noon

Cost: $45 + GST

This class is designed for the complete beginner with no knitting experience. It will cover knit and purl stitches, a basic cast on, understanding knitting “lingo”, plus much more information for the first time knitter.  This is also an excellent refresher course.

Date: Mondays, Oct. 7, 21 and 28  at 6 - 7:30 pm  OR Wednesdays, Nov. 21, 27 and Dec. 4  at 10:30-12 noon

Cost: $65 + GST

You will learn to knit in the round, a skill so essential for many projects (socks, hats, legwarmers etc). The class project is the Antler Hat with cables.

Date:  Wednesdays, Nov. 6, 13 and 20, at 6 - 7:30 pm

Cost: $60 + GST

If you have never made a pair of socks, this class is for you! Using a lovely, self patterned, 6-ply yarn, you will learn to knit socks on 4 needles. You will knit in the round, turn the heel, and graft the toe for a "magical" seamless finish! This class is for confident knitters. 

Date: Saturdays, Oct. 26, Nov. 2 and 9  at 10 -11:30 a.m. 

Cost: $60 + GST

No DPN’s needed here! You will be knitting socks with a long circular needle using the magic loop method.  Both socks are knit simultaneously. You should be an experienced knitter to join this class.

Date: Wednesdays, Oct. 9, 16 and 23, at 6 - 7:30 p.m.

Cost: $60 + GST

Our project for this class is Zuzu's Petals which is a beautiful lace cowl. This class is a great introduction to working with yarn to create lace. You will learn the garter tab, a variety of increases and decreases, chart reading and finishing to make your lace look its best! 

Date: Fridays, Oct. 18, 25 and Nov. 1  at 10:30 - 12 noon

Cost: $80 + GST

Twisted bits of un-spun, carded fleece wool are knitted into the fabric to create a fleecy lining. With wear and use, the fleece inside felts into an insulating layer making some very warm mittens! Experience with double pointed needles is required for this class.

Date: Mondays, Nov. 18, 25 and Dec 2   at 6-7:30 p.m.

Cost: $65.00 + GST

This class will teach you the basics of crochet. Along with learning the stitches, you will also learn how yarn responds differently to crochet than it does to knitting. This is also a great “refresher” course if you have crocheted in the past and want to pick it up again.

Date: Tuesdays, Oct 8, 15 and 22 at 6 - 7:30 p.m.

Cost: $65 + GST

In this class you will learn to knit a very basic mitten.  You will learn to knit in the round on double pointed needles and do increases for the thumb gusset. Pattern is from tincanknits.

Date: Tuesdays,  Oct. 8, 15 and 22, at 10:30 - 12 noon

Cost: $60.00 + GST
